About Dual Enrollment
Students may enroll in academic or career technical courses at 2- or 4-year colleges and earn both high school and college credit simultaneously.
This option is limited to certain high school students. Dual enrollment is not to facilitate early graduation but is an avenue to gain post secondary credits. This program is open to all students who meet the following requirements:
- Students must pay the normal tuition required by the postsecondary institution;
- Have a “B” average in completed high school courses. Students taking career tech dual enrollment courses must have a minimum of a 75 average in completed high school courses;
- Have written approval from the student’s principal and superintendent; and
- Be in grade 10, 11 or 12 or have an exemption granted by the participating postsecondary institution upon the recommendation of the student’s principal and superintendent (see Alabama Administrative Code 190-8-9-17 regarding gifted and talented students).
CCHS currently partners with Gadsden State Community College, but students may also chose other colleges or universities and meet acceptance requirements.
